Regression Curves PVC Pipes with Different Stabiliser Systems
TEPPFA agreed to phase out the use of Lead stabilizer in the context of the Voluntary Commitment 2010. This means a switch over to alternative stabilizers for all PVC pipes and fittings for pressure and non-pressure applications. Alternatives include Calcium/Zinc, Tin and organic based stabilisers. TEPPFA members have achieved significant progress in implementing this replacement program.
In the past, several TEPPFA members have carried out test series on internal pressure to demonstrate that the MRS value still meets the requirements of the relevant EN standards (MRS250).
It became important for certification purposes of PVC pipes that all the information about the regression curves for these alternative stabilizer systems was provided.
This information has been evaluated by TEPPFA and one master curve has been obtained. It shows that all PVC stabiliser systems meet the existing MRS requirement as defined in the PVC pressure standard, EN1452.
This result can has been used to reduce the costs for additional testing for the certification of the Quality Marks. Given the evidence of long time experience, this standard (EN1452) allows a reduced test program to show conformity with the existing figures.
