Is abrasion a problem with plastic sewer pipes?
Abrasion is so limited it has absolutely no affect on the performance of a plastic sewer pipe.
- Extensive tests have shown that the abrasion of plastic sewer pipes is very limited.
- The real predicted abrasion at 100 years operation of plastic pipes has been the reference for fixing minimum required wall thicknesses in EN13476 for structured wall pipes.
- Abrasion due to sand transport in straight plastics pipes is less than 0,5mm during an operational period of 100 years.
- Plastics pipes possess superior abrasion resistance to other pipe materials such as e.g. vitrified clay, reinforced concrete, fibre cement pipes and corrugated galvanized steel pipes.
